LEWN FT. KEEMOSABE @ ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS
You grow up and fall in love with some records. Then, one day you find out that most of them have been recorded in this legendary studio in London, where the most famous band of all times (four guys from Liverpool, don't know if you're into them...) created masterpieces that changed music forever.
On Monday May 22nd KEEMOSABE were in Studio 3 Abbey Road to record LEWN single "Burn". We are so thankful to have been able to share a studio session with such an amazing artist! We had the pleasure to work with Jack Lewin and his brother Patrick Lewin in the past: we performed at Servant Jazz Quarters on March 26th for their EP release "SHE" featuring the incredible rapper Koder.
LEWN's eclectic musical influences range from the golden era of hip-hop to DIY punk. Using atmospheric guitar textures laced with haunting melodies LEWN form their own visceral soundscapes. LEWN couple dark, ethereal instrumentation with more conventional ‘boom-bap’ rhythms to create their own take on the 90’s trip-hop movement.
We truly believe that music happens in the moment. Music is about inspiration, is about feelings and going with the flow. We just rehearsed twice to get ready for the session and we spent most of the time working on the sound rather then figuring out the individual parts. We found a great cohesion between us as soon as we got to play! We wanted to keep the doors opened for a little improvisation and leave some room in order to be inspired by the moment. At the end of the day, making a record means to capture a performance that is unique and unrepeatable!
Tim Wetter, young and talented Hip Hop producer, was leading the session. He is based in London and Berlin!
Check out his music! Tim has recently released his debut album "A Safe Place to be Naked" on May 5th through Jakarta Records. His 12 tracks album captures the producer’s quest for a fresh sound, which he elaborated over the last two years, locked in his tiny basement studio in Berlin.

Walking in that recording room, following the steps of legendary bands like Pink Floyd, to modern popstars such as Amy Winehouse, Ed Sheeran, Frank Ocean, was filling our hearts with inspiration and, to be honest, a little pressure. Nevertheless, the session ran smooth and relaxed, thanks to the professionalism and preparation of the staff of Abbey Road. We truly understood with our own experience why it is still considered the most famous recording studio in the whole world.
We want to thank LEWN and Tim Wetter for calling us and make this session happen. But most of all we would love to show our deep appreciation to Abbey Road Institute, the training ground for the next generation of music producers and sound engineers, and above all to the Maestro Carlos Lellis. Collaborating with you guys has been an extraordinary accomplishment and we really hope to keep working together in other future occasions!
